How Hospitallers helped people and animals in the Kakhovka tragedy

When the Kakhovka Dam was destroyed on June 6, 2023, it wasn’t just people who suffered. Homes were flooded, communities were cut off from necessities, and countless animals were left stranded, injured, and in desperate need of help.

At the time, Hospitallers had already been preparing Hospitails, a dedicated initiative focused on evacuating and caring for animals in crisis. The project was in development for months, as Hospitallers have always assisted animals in affected regions.

But the tragedy made it clear that action couldn’t wait. The team quickly mobilized, gathering food, clean water, hygiene supplies for families who had lost everything and supplies, transport, and veterinary specialists to help animals. Over 100 animals were rescued, treated, and relocated to safe areas.

Thanks to your support, Hospitallers continue their lifesaving mission. Every donation and act of kindness helps them rescue more lives and provide proper medical care. Together, we are making a difference!
